Sherri Shortell

Sherri Shortell is the Director of Center Stage Dance and Performing Arts Center and the Center Stage Dance Company. Sherri has been teaching and performing in the Washington Metro area since 1979 after studying in New York and Connecticut. She has performed at the Kennedy Center, the White House, the Smithsonian Institution, and Wolf Trap and with the late, great Gregory Hines. Sherri has received numerous awards for her choreography and has choreographed pieces for other local dance companies and community theatres. Sherri has received three Virginia Governor’s awards for service to Virginia youth. She co-produced the Memorial Tribute for Gregory Hines at the Dept of Agriculture in Washington D.C. and LEGacy – a tribute to Jimmy Slyde and LaVaughn Robinson. She has judged for several national competitions around the country. Sherri teaches and choreographs tap competition team classes as well as all levels of tap classes.
