Founded in 1990, the Center Stage Dance Company is well known for its exciting jazz, contemporary, and tap numbers. Under the direction of Sherri Shortell, the Company has performed at Wolf Trap, the Washington Metropolitan Jazz and Tap Festival, the Kennedy Center, the Smithsonian Institution, and Disney World in Orlando, FL. The Company has also performed at the Olympics in Sydney, Australia, tributes to Gregory Hines, and the Washington Area TapFest. Company members are invited from the Center Stage Dance Studio student body and also selected through auditions open to the public. Dancers must be 15 years or older and be well versed in tap and jazz dance with a strong ballet background.
